Careers Fair in Zakarpattia: 3,000 attendees. REPORT

On 14 October, the career fair ‘Platform of Your Opportunities’ took place in Uzhhorod, bringing together over three thousand school pupils and students from across Transcarpathia.

The event was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Uzhhorod National University. It was organised jointly by UzhNU and the Transcarpathian Regional Military Administration. The event was a large-scale initiative. It aimed to help young people navigate the world of professions. It also helped them learn more about educational institutions. Participants could gain practical skills. These skills are useful for building future careers.

Throughout the day, a lively, inspiring atmosphere prevailed at the festival. Visitors actively engaged with representatives from higher education and vocational institutions, asking about courses, admission requirements, the specifics of the learning process, and employment prospects. Importantly, the stands were manned not only by lecturers but also by students — so participants could hear first-hand what studying is really like.

In addition to the educational areas, the festival featured the Transcarpathian job market: the region’s largest employers presented current vacancies and internship opportunities for young people.

The organisers ensured that the event programme was packed and varied. Practical activities took place in Maly Galagov Park, including:

A first aid masterclass, during which participants learnt how to respond in emergency situations;

A training session on ‘The Art of Self-Presentation: Verbal and Non-Verbal Means of Influence’, which helped young people master the skills of confident behaviour during interviews or public speaking.

Music played throughout the festival, creating a festive atmosphere and adding positive energy to the event. Participants were able to relax, socialise and enjoy performances by young artists.

Each educational institution prepared its own interactive programme to engage school pupils and encourage them to participate. For example, the Faculty of Philology at UzhNU organised logic-based brain teasers, with symbolic prizes awarded for correct answers. Meanwhile, representatives from Khust Vocational College invited those keen to try their hand at plastering — participants created patterns using decorative plaster and discovered that a profession which seems easy actually requires skill and patience in practice.

The ‘Platform of Your Opportunities’ festival became not only an educational project. It also became a social project. It brought together educational institutions, employers, and young people. It provided participants with knowledge. It also gave them inspiration. Participants gained new acquaintances. It may have encouraged them to choose their own career path.
